Bantrel Diversification

(2013-2019)

Bantrel was now recognized in the industry as one of few Canadian EPC houses to have a full EPC offering. Having successfully completed various projects in previous years, construction led projects became a larger focus. In 2013, Bantrel was awarded an EPC contract for the Field Facilitates component of the JACOS Hangingstone Expansion Project. This was a ground-breaking project for Bantrel as it was the first executed on a lump sum commercial basis. It was also the first major project for Bemac, with which Bantrel partnered. The project was considered a resounding success and was completed on time and on budget.

In early 2014, Bantrel was awarded its first Tailings project for Suncor Energy. This would also mark the first time Bantrel took on a project working in an operating mine. Growth in oil sands production prompted an increase in export capacity and as a result Bantrel was awarded design of the Enbridge Line 3 replacement Hardisty terminal scope.

In July 2015, Bantrel signed a full EPC contract to manage Imperial Oil’s Strathcona Refinery entire small project capital execution program. This innovative sustaining capital program was the first of its kind in the Industry. It brought together two of Bantrel’s core strengths: managing large portfolios of diverse sustaining capital brownfield projects, and EPC execution.

Bantrel diversification initiatives continued into infrastructure providing both engineering design and construction execution expertise to support the Bechtel team on Edmonton’s Valley Line LRT project in 2016.

Our mining capability continued to grow in 2017, with Bantrel being awarded an EPCM contract as a joint venture partner with Hatch on the Jansen Project in east central Saskatchewan. Bantrel was awarded this contract based on its innovative EPC integrated delivery model.

The continued growth and success of Bantrel has been and continues to be the integrity of our employees and the innovative solutions they bring to the industries we serve. By listening and responding to client requirements, Bantrel will continue to be a leader in executing some of the most complex and challenging projects across Canada.
