Health, Safety and Environmental Overview
Bantrel embraces safety as a business value and considers the protection of people and the environment a critical management responsibility. As an industry leader, Bantrel is committed to designing and constructing the facilities we are responsible for in such a manner as to protect people and the environment from harm. To accomplish this objective, Bantrel is relentless in its pursuit and elimination of hazardous exposures to people and the environment.
The Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) objectives for Bantrel projects is the total elimination of loss-producing incidents. This level of excellence will only be possible if there is a personal commitment to achieve this goal from every employer, manager, supervisor, field worker, and support staff member.
In practical terms this means:
- Creating a caring culture with a human focus where people come first.
- Providing a safe respectful work environment for all team members.
- Creating an environment where there is first-person ownership and participation in HSE processes.
- Empowering employees to initiate the actions required to make their respective work areas hazard free.
- Factoring HSE considerations into every work process and driving a project culture, which makes it clear that safely delivered, quality work will be an expectation of everyone.
- Verifying that each team member fully understands the personal implications of their safety responsibilities.
- Providing a mechanism for two-way communication between line management and employees on the floor.
- Holding all team members personally accountable for their HSE responsibilities.
- Using industry leading management processes and work practices, HSE compliance monitoring and a cascading process of safe work planning will eliminate or reduce loss exposures.
- Eliminating loss aggressively with exposures that could result in: occupational injuries and illnesses, harm to the environment, damage to plant and equipment, and/or interruption to operations or process.
Bantrel has a proven HSE management system that is second to none in our industry. It encompasses all aspects of a project from design and site construction through to plant commissioning. This system is a 17-element process based on total loss control principles and incorporates industry best practices and leading edge processes. Management system implementation is effected through line management and the systematic rollout of constituent elements within the management process.
Following are the elements of the Bantrel HSE management system.
- Leadership
- Planned Inspections & Audits
- Incident Management
- Environmental Management
- Behaviour Based Safety Process
- Documentation & Recordkeeping
- General Rules
- Recognition & Awareness
- Occupational Health
- Responsibilities
- Communications
- Training & Education
- Supplier Controls
- Security
- Work Procedures & Methods
- Office Safety
- Emergency Preparedness
Further, for each project it is standard Bantrel procedure to establish a project-specific HSE Execution Plan. This plan identifies the scope and implementation requirements for specific activities within the management system. Due consideration is given to: regulatory and customer specific requirements, the path of construction, workforce curves, the construction work plan, and project and facility specific considerations. This document is dynamic in nature and continues to evolve throughout the life of the project.
HEALTH, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
