Our capital-intensive projects include grassroots facilities as well as project expansions, retrofitting, upgrades and turnarounds. BCC provides direct control over projects by accessing and managing the many activities along the critical path of construction.
BCC has the ability to plan and self-execute most major above-ground activities such as steel erection, mechanical installation, piping installation, module fabrication and installation. This eliminates lengthy sub-contract tendering cycles, and results in work commencing up to 12 weeks sooner on most projects.
In addition, our experience in construction management and constructability allows us to effectively plan and manage even the most complex projects. This includes the coordination of engineering and procurement deliverables, direct hire forces, sub-contractors, suppliers, equipment and material.
With a payroll workforce that has peaked at more than 4,500 construction professionals and tradespeople, BCC has the resources to take plans, specifications and concepts from the drafting table through to project completion.
Our construction professionals integrate their experience with our planning and
constructability program to generate execution plans designed to deliver construction in a safe
and efficient manner.
Bantrel provides ready access to more than $85 million in equipment and supplies required for large-scale construction projects through Bantrel Equipment Services.
Bantrel Equipment Services (BES) supplies everything from heavy lift cranes and welding machines to small hand tools and consumables.
BES has one of the largest fleets of construction equipment in Canada that is available to support our client's projects.

Darrell Donly, President of BCC, receives the Safety Implementation and Performance Improvement Award from Mike Cardinal, Alberta Human Resources and Employment Minister, May 17, 2006.
We have a proven track record of executing complex projects safely. Our performance is widely recognized by both clients and the industry. In addition, we run several environmental programs in the field to minimize the impact of our operations.
Because of our construction organization's exceptional safety performance and continued industry leadership, Bantrel receives the maximum WCB premium discount, clearly demonstrating the axiom that “Safety Pays.” In 2006, the Construction Owners Association of Alberta honoured BCC for exceeding 5 million hours in the field without a lost-time incident at the Petro-Canada Edmonton Diesel Desulphurization project. Bantrel has extensive experience in modular construction. We’ve delivered and installed thousands of modules to clients including structural units assembled off-site for cokers, exchangers, furnaces, pipe-racks and process. Bantrel has been using modularization effectively for more than 20 years to :
- Manage remote sites
- Reduce the cost of site labour
- Eliminate on-site quality issues
- Mitigate extreme weather conditions
Early construction involvement in the project's conceptual and design phases is essential. Constructability reviews save clients time and money by anticipating, identifying and solving potential project pitfalls. Specifically, our constructability programs:
- Investigate modularization opportunities
- Set the path of construction
- Help optimize construction cost-saving opportunities
- Align common engineering and construction goals
One of BCC’s primary strengths is our ability to attract labour in constrained markets. Our premier Canadian labour relations team is experienced working across geographies, and skilled at negotiating Project Labour Agreements. Our team focuses on maximizing all local resources, as well as recruiting from multiple provinces, states and countries.
