Egidio, Lead Project Engineer, Toronto

What are your duties at Bantrel?
I am the lead project engineer assigned to the Suncor Voyageur Upgrader Project. The Voyageur Upgrader Project represents Suncor’s latest investment in oilsands development. The project adopted a multi-office execution strategy, with work scope in Calgary, Toronto and Edmonton. As the lead project engineer in the Toronto office, I provide technical and administrative leadership to all engineering disciplines to ensure the work is executed consistently with our project execution plans. I am also focused on ensuring our project goals related to quality, safety, regulatory compliance, schedule and cost are achieved.

Why did you choose Bantrel as an employer?
Bantrel is a leading engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) company, executing projects in the booming energy market, in domestic as well as international markets. As an integrated EPC company, Bantrel affords employees career development opportunities in all facets of project execution, from facilities scoping and design development to installation and start-up. Through its relationship with Bechtel, Bantrel employees have the opportunity to work on complex and challenging projects, for international clients.

What opportunities are there at Bantrel?

Bantrel’s position and reputation in the market, combined with our impressive client list, provides employees with opportunities to work on projects of unprecedented size and scale. Opportunities for on-project and off-project training are available to staff at all levels, from entry-level to senior. The work environment lends itself to career development and enrichment.

What distinguishes Bantrel from other firms?
Bantrel distinguishes itself through the calibre of our people, scale of projects and the quality of our clients. With over 5,000 people in the organization, expertise is available in all areas of engineering, procurement and construction. The larger Bechtel organization greatly expands this resource pool. Bantrel implements a structured and highly procedural yet not bureaucratic, quality-focused approach to project execution, in an effort to achieve predictable and successful results.

Bantrel is also committed to health, safety and the preservation of environment, through heightened awareness and the implementation of behavioural-based HSE practices which is very important to me. In addition, Bantrel recognizes the importance of a positive work environment and team building. Social committees work diligently to organize events throughout the calendar year. All factors combined allow Bantrel to provide employees with a progressive work environment and our clients with high quality EPC services.
