Bantrel and Bantrel Constructors Co. have a long history of construction projects that are located near Aboriginal/First Nations communities or land used by these communities.

The more prominent of these are:

  •  Shell Canada Limited - Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta

Bantrel recognizes that the needs and priorities of these local communities must be taken into account. We respect the diversity of Aboriginal culture, recognize the importance of the land and cultivate relationships based on trust and mutual respect.

Bantrel conducts its business as a contractor to “Owner” companies and therefore works in support of its clients’ policies and procedures regarding Aboriginal Employment and Development, while at the same time, working with the Building Trades Unions to ensure employment and training opportunities are made available to the Aboriginal community.

Bantrel promotes the development of post-secondary programs to encourage Aboriginal/First Nations people to take advantage of energy industry opportunities by supporting:

  • Educational awards
  • Apprenticeship programs
  • Summer student programs
  • Cooperative programs with local educational institutions

Aboriginal/First Nations communities neighbouring our projects provide a unique opportunity to develop a stable local workforce. We strive to achieve a workforce which is proportionately representative of the qualified employable Aboriginal/First Nations people within our operating areas. Bantrel works with these communities to ensure that Aboriginal/First Nations people are given fair employment opportunities in engineering, procurement and construction activities.
